This easy essential oil rollerball blend soothes tired feet, penetrating the skin to help reduce pain, swelling, and tension. Cooling oils like peppermint and eucalyptus add refreshing relief while other oils support circulation and relaxation.
Use the roller in the morning to help prevent swelling, mid-day to refresh, or at night to relax sore muscles. It’s essentially a mini foot massage in a convenient bottle.

Seven essential oils for tired feet
I use the seven oils below in the recipes that follow. You don’t need every oil on hand—pick the ones that match your needs—but knowing each oil’s benefits makes choosing easier.
1. Cypress essential oil
Extracted from twigs and needles of the cypress tree, cypress oil is rich in limonene and alpha-pinene. It supports circulation and can help relieve muscle spasms and cramps when applied topically.
2. Marjoram essential oil
Marjoram, from the herb Origanum majorana, has antispasmodic and mild analgesic properties. It calms stressed muscles and is also known for its relaxing, tension-relieving effects.
3. Lemongrass essential oil
Lemongrass contains compounds similar to eugenol that can relieve muscle aches and cramps. It also helps reduce inflammation and may support circulation.
4. Lavender essential oil
Lavender is widely used for relaxation and sleep, and it also supports circulation, reduces swelling, and eases discomfort—making it a helpful addition for tired feet.
5. Peppermint essential oil
Peppermint’s menthol provides an immediate cooling sensation. It offers analgesic, antispasmodic, and anti-inflammatory benefits that can quickly calm sore, fatigued feet.
6. Eucalyptus essential oil
Eucalyptus brings fast relief with a cooling, refreshing effect. It also helps reduce pain, swelling, and inflammation for tired feet.
7. Copaiba essential oil
Sourced from the resin of the copaiba tree, copaiba is high in beta-caryophyllene, a strong anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving compound. It also promotes relaxation and eases tension.

How to make a rollerball for sore, tired feet
Step 1: Fill a 10 ml roller bottle most of the way with a carrier oil
Use a small funnel to pour carrier oil into a standard 10 ml roller bottle. Essential oils are concentrated, so always dilute them in a carrier oil before applying to skin.
Leave a little space at the top so you can add the essential oil drops.
I prefer fractionated coconut oil for this recipe because it’s colorless, odorless, inexpensive, and has a long shelf life.

Step 2: Add one of these essential oil blends

Step 3: Attach the rollerball and mix
Snap the rollerball top onto the bottle, then gently roll the bottle between your hands to blend the oils. A small tool can help press the rollerball into place securely so it won’t leak.

Step 4: Clean the outside of the bottle
Wipe the bottle and cap with rubbing alcohol to remove oil and dirt. Clean glass helps labels adhere better.

Step 5: Add a label if desired
Apply a label to identify the blend and date. A clear, legible label makes it easy to know what’s inside.


How to use
Roll onto the bottoms of your feet and massage in. Reapply as needed throughout the day.
Morning: Apply to help keep feet from swelling during the day.
Afternoon: Reapply to revive and refresh tired feet.
