These Easy Homemade Pizza Pockets are one of their favorite quick dinners. If your family enjoys these, you might also like the Easy Pizza Casserole.

A few months ago my kids saw a commercial for Hot Pockets and insisted we try them. I have a long-standing dislike of the frozen version, but the kids loved their first taste. I promised they could make homemade pizza pockets themselves, and they have been making them often ever since.

Both versions were good, but the pizza dough barely edged out the crescent rolls in our household. In the photos, the pizza dough pockets are less browned. Try both and see which your kids prefer — either way these are a fun, easy project and a tasty meal.

A simple throwback that kids can assemble themselves — cheesy, handheld pizza pockets perfect for a quick dinner or snack.
Ingredients
  • 2 packages refrigerated crescent rolls or pre-made pizza crust
  • 1 jar of your favorite spaghetti or pizza sauce
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Pepperoni or other favorite pizza toppings
  • Garlic butter (optional)
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or spray with cooking spray.
  2. Lightly flour a cutting board or countertop.
  3. Unroll the crescent rolls or pizza crust and use a rolling pin to even out the dough. If using crescent rolls, press the perforations together so the dough won’t tear while you work.
  4. Cut the dough into six equal pieces using a pizza cutter or knife.
  5. Spread a spoonful or two of sauce on half of each piece, leaving a border so you can seal the edges.
  6. Top the sauce with shredded mozzarella and pepperoni or other toppings.
  7. Fold the dough over and press the edges with a fork to crimp and seal each pocket.
  8. Repeat with the second package of dough to yield 12 pockets total.
  9. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 9–12 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through.
  10. Brush with garlic butter if desired once they come out of the oven.
  11. Serve hot and enjoy.
