- Glue
- Scissors
- Googly eyes
- Embellishments such as glitter, cut paper shapes, or stick-on jewels
- Lollipops (Tootsie Pop, Blow Pop, or any round candy for the head)
- Tape
TIP: If you don’t want to print many butterflies, print one on heavy cardstock to use as a template. Children can trace that template onto construction paper, cut out shapes, and add their own messages — a fun variation as a Valentine’s Day craft.
How to make a butterfly Valentine
Download and print the Butterfly Valentine on colored cardstock, then cut out the shapes. Make slits where the sucker will slide in, decorate the wings with stickers, glitter, or paper shapes, and insert the lollipop so the round candy becomes the butterfly’s head. Add googly eyes to the top of the sucker and, if you like, a small piece of pipe cleaner for antennae. Secure the lollipop from behind with a bit of tape so it stays in place. Simple and delightful!
