I’ve always been close with my grandparents. A visit to their house always meant grabbing a sweet from the candy dish. Even after more than sixty years of marriage, they still disagree about small things—like the best candy and the ideal house temperature. Grandma prefers chocolate-coated treats and a cooler room, while Grandpa leans toward caramel and a warmer house. One candy we both agree on is TWIX®. The combination of creamy caramel, milk chocolate and a crisp shortbread cookie is irresistible.
While shopping at Walmart for a Father’s Day gift, I couldn’t resist browsing the candy aisle. I wanted to make something special but hadn’t decided what—until a display of TWIX Bites caught my eye. They’re great for snacking, but I immediately started imagining how they’d elevate a caramel dessert.

The result was Salted Caramel Rice Krispie Treats studded with chopped TWIX Bites—both inside the bars and scattered on top. The sea salt adds a bright contrast to the sticky caramel and melted marshmallows. Expect to lick your fingers when you’re done; these are decadently messy in the best way. My grandparents declared these the best Rice Krispie treats they’ve ever tasted.
